My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, although some furniture showed signs of wear. The service was friendly and helpful, but there were instances of staff behavior that could have been more attentive. The location was stunning with easy access to natural attractions, but some facilities needed maintenance. The dining experience was satisfying but lacked variety. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.

I was thrilled to stay right on the edge of steamy Kīlauea, with comfortable rooms, windows opening to the fresh air and bird songs, a 3/4 bath with shower, walk-in closet, in-room coffee, and excellent housekeeping. Despite being a bit overpriced for its condition, the experience was still pretty amazing.

The hotel offers spacious, clean, and updated rooms with ample storage space, but the prices are on the higher side. I was initially surprised by the small size of the room and bathroom, though I could tell they were recently remodeled. The service was attentive and accommodating. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel overlooking the crater. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable with windows that opened to fresh air and bird songs, plus a 3/4 bath with a shower, a walk-in closet, in-room coffee, and good housekeeping. The hotel is a bit old but charming. The service was fantastic, with the staff being friendly and helpful, and the personal touch of sharing eruption survivor stories made it even more special. The location was convenient for exploring the stunning surroundings, including hiking trails, exotic birds, sulfur park, and volcanic steam vents. However, the plastic peeling off the chairs was a minor downside. Dining overlooking Kilkeau Caldron offered a buffet at $15 per person with good variety, but some items on the menu were repetitive. The facilities were well-maintained and satisfactory.

My stay at the hotel was both delightful and surprising. The rooms, although a bit small, were well-stocked and offered a safe but lacked a refrigerator. The stunning views facing the crater were truly unforgettable. The service was a mixed bag with some staff being helpful and engaging while others seemed a bit disinterested. The location, right on the crater of the Mauna Loa, was simply breathtaking, offering easy access to hiking trails and amazing photo opportunities. The dining experience, although a bit pricey, provided ample 'fuel' for exploration, but I wished there were more varied options. The facilities were decent overall, meeting basic needs.

If you enjoy gazing at a constantly changing volcanic landscape, then the rooms at this hotel on the rim of the volcano, facing the crater, are definitely worth the extra cost. You'll have an incredible view of Kilauea, steam vents, Mauna Loa, and more, all while being serenaded by birds. However, the room quality is more at a 2-3 star level, akin to Motel 6.
